Over the past few months, I’ve had the chance to speak with leaders in the insurance space from companies like @HiscoxInsurance (special thanks to Bronek Masojada for helping me navigate this space early on), @amfam, Munich Re, @hippo_insurance, @QBE, Reserv, and @ClaimSetter, among others – and attend conferences like #TargetMarkets.
What’s clear: there is an opportunity to disrupt the $100B property and casualty insurance claims industry by building an AI-native TPA.
Companies like Strala.ai and @claimsorted are tackling simpler claims. Elysian.is is going after more complex ones. I’m excited to see more founders take on this challenge.

Today I’m kicking off a series where I’ll write about verticals, often within legacy industries, where I see opportunities for AI startups. These will be sectors where I’ve spent time, want to spend more time, or have a personal connection.
Before starting my last company, a founder once asked me: "If you weren’t an investor, what company would you start?" I think about that question all the time. This series will explore some of those ideas.
