The Safaricom Engineering Community recently launched a 1-year Software Engineering Program at the
@MPESAFdnAcademy as part of its Mizizi Initiative. This program aims to empower young innovators and unlock the potential of tomorrow's tech leaders with technical and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in a digital world. Students will be paired with mentors during the program and work on software engineering projects that address real-world issues. Safaricom's Head of Digital Transformation, Joe K. Kanyua encouraged students to embrace their creativity and innovative Spirit. He emphasized that learning is a lifelong journey, and with the right mentorship and training in software and digital skills, students can solve the issues affecting their communities and make a global impact. The Software Engineering Program is designed to equip learners with industry skills they need to succeed. With the Academy being the inaugural hub for this innovative program, the students here are positioned to lead the way in shaping Kenya's tech future and making the Silicon Savanna a reality.
