ONBERG, the newly founded joint venture between HD Advanced Technologies – a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG – and the US‑Israeli technology company Ondas Autonomous Systems, publicly presented its portfolio of mobile counter‑drone systems for the first time at the German Armed Forces Techshow at the Innovation Center Erding.
The system employs passive RF sensors from Sentrycs for early warning and the simultaneous, emission‑free tracking of multiple drones. These are complemented by radar systems for wide‑area airspace surveillance, as well as AI‑enabled EO/IR sensors for the detection, classification, and tracking of even difficult‑to‑detect targets. All sensor data is fused within a central command and control system that generates a consistent, cross‑domain situational picture and supports the simultaneous operation of multiple deployment sites in accordance with layered defense concepts.
The solution is flexibly integrable - both on unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) from Roboteam and HD Advanced Technologies and on vehicle‑mounted platforms. This makes the system equally suitable for the protection of maneuvering units as well as larger deployed formations.
ONBERG employs a combined effector approach: In addition to the cyber takeover of hostile drones followed by controlled landing, autonomous interceptor drones of the “Iron Drone Raider” type are used to force adversary UAS to land using nets. All effector measures are embedded within a coordinated operational framework, enabling harmonized, multi‑layered defense against a wide range of threat scenarios.
Raymond Mutz, CEO of ONBERG, stated: “Our goal is to establish ONBERG as a leading one‑stop shop for autonomous counter‑drone solutions based on European supply chains. For the first time, this will allow us to offer fully integrated protection from a single source - made in Brandenburg. By combining proven, ready‑to‑deploy technologies with industrial execution strength, we are contributing to Europe’s technological sovereignty and strengthening our defense capabilities.”
