Responsive HE Resilience in Malaysia: A Strategic Intervention by COL
In the heart of Southeast Asia,
#Malaysia has been making strides in transforming higher education (HE) to become more inclusive and technologically adept.
@COL4D has played a pivotal role in aligning with the Malaysian Government's forward-looking agenda to enrich educational resilience through technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and open educational resources (OER).
Here's a brief overview of the milestones achieved through this partnership:
2016 - *Initiation of National
#OER Policy*: This event marked the beginning of a transformative journey. The development of a national policy on OER was set in motion, laying the groundwork for a more open and accessible higher education system.
2017-2021 - *Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Embraces TEL*: UMS became a pioneer in integrating technology-enhanced learning, substantially enhancing its educational delivery and setting a benchmark for other institutions.
2022 - *Extensive Capacity Building Across 20 Public Universities*: Efforts were amplified to include TEL benchmarking in six universities, with an addition of two more in 2023. This year also saw the adoption of an inclusive OER policy, marking a significant leap towards more accessible education.
2024 - *Focus on Accessible Open Textbooks at UMS*: Currently, COL is supporting UMS in building competencies necessary to develop accessible open textbooks, with the university now operating at a remarkable 95% blended learning capacity.
These initiatives not only underscore Malaysia’s commitment to modernising education but also highlight the successful collaboration between COL and Malaysia.
