Much of modern Christianity (especially in the West) has shifted from primary loyalty to Christ and Scripture toward loyalty to human leaders, traditions, denominations, or charismatic personalities. When that happens, people stop testing teachings against the Bible and instead treat the favorite pastor, theologian, movement, or "camp" as the final arbiter of truth. That is exactly the soil in which deception grows. Biblical warnings are everywhere: Jesus: "They will put you out of the synagogues… whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God" (John 16:2) — loyalty to a religious personality/system over Christ Himself. Paul: "The time is coming when people will not endure sound doctrine… they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions" (2 Tim 4:3). The Galatians immediately deserted the gospel for "another gospel" because of influential false teachers (Gal 1:6–9). Diotrephes loving "to be first" and putting people out of the church who didn’t follow him (3 John 9–10). History repeats the pattern: 1. The medieval Catholic Church’s resistance to Reformation. 2. The way some Anabaptists and Puritans were persecuted by fellow Protestants. 3. The modern celebrity-pastor industrial complex, the blind defense of abusive leaders because "he’s anointed." 4. The tribal wars over secondary doctrines, where people will die on a hill for their theological tribe rather than for the gospel itself. When loyalty is to a man (or a movement built around a man) rather than to Christ and His Word, discernment deteriorates. People stop asking "Is this biblical?" and start asking "Did [insert favorite teacher] say this?" That’s spiritual suicide, and it’s why cults and major errors keep flourishing inside the church. The only real antidote is what the statement calls for: relentless, humble, Berean-style submission to Scripture as the final authority, and a willingness to criticize even the people we love and respect when they deviate from it. This is one of the most troubling problems in the church today, and it has been for 2,000 years. #Discernment #TestAllThings This will be the last #political post I will make, as I honestly hate the division and other things currently attributed with it... We already know that God is in control of leadership according to Daniel 2:21 [even the wicked and evil leadership]. We know that ultimately, Jesus is our King [1st Samuel 8]. We also know that men and women died for our 'right' to vote [in America]. I do not disagree with this, nor do I disdain it. I love my country, and those [including my late father who fought in Vietnam] and other family who spent their own time in war. I humbly ask this though: - What will happen if Trump 'loses'? - What will happen if Kamala or some other person 'wins'? - How will believers react if Trump does not win? - How will believers react if Kamala wins? If we place all of our hope in these scenarios, ignoring the implications of what Jesus told us to 'watch and pray' for in the midst of, then we will be caught off guard when things get worse, comfort is taken away and we have to face days of lawlessness, insanity and chaos, being offended and falling away. If Trump wins? Praise God... we might have a few extra years of comfort. We might have a few more years of being able to make Jesus known legally [and this is a good thing]. BUT, we can also fall into the trap of becoming TOO COMFORTABLE, saying 'peace peace' when there is no peace, and then being caught off guard by world events that will suddenly shift our very lives of comfort, to FULL DEPENDENCE on God in a world going mad. My personal convictions for the past 10 years alone have been one of 'readiness' and 'discernment', not clinging too tightly to this world system, and still making Jesus known while we still have the legal means to do so in THIS country [because it is rapidly fading in other countries]. If we ignore the commands of Jesus to 'watch and pray', not to 'escape', but to ENDURE, then we will be offended at the loss of COMFORT, deny Him and end up having our love grow cold and fall away. This I firmly believe is the 'testing' Jesus spoke of at the end of the age that the 'entire world' would come under. I am not telling you to NOT vote [I don't have that power], or even to vote [that is between you and God]. I am encouraging you to have DISCERNMENT of the times, not turn a blind eye to those who make promises of 'fixing everything' while compromising, and not placing all of your 'eggs' in the basket of 'if we win or not', because we either have MEEKNESS in trusting God with a temporary king that might give us a few more short years of 'freedom', or we also trust Him if we end up under a tyrant and evil system which will seek to end Christianity and all things which are sane. The underground church suffers this reality now... is the #American #church ready for such a reality?
