He shared two invaluable insights for navigating the political season: 1) Challenge "The Gospel Plus" Mentality -Avoid judging a friend’s faith based on "The Gospel Plus"—the idea that being a Christian also requires aligning with specific political views. Dr. McKenzie emphasized that, as believers, we can share core faith values without needing identical political convictions. Whether Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, or from other backgrounds, Christians can worship differently and hold unique perspectives without diminishing their faith. 2) Balance Trust in God with Social Responsibility -Find the balance between resting in God’s sovereignty over any election outcome and stepping up as a prophetic voice for change. Reflect on when you’re choosing one approach or being influenced by outside forces—like media, charged rhetoric, or emotional events—instead of God’s call.
