I've been on this platform for years, advocating loudly for two things that hit close to home as a veteran: Veteran Verification badges and real action on veteran suicide prevention.
I've tagged
@elonmusk countless times. I've shared stories. I've begged for change. But nothing. Crickets.
Why does it feel like Elon Musk and X are completely ignoring veteran issues? 🧵
First, Veteran Verification. Stolen valor is rampant here. Fake "vets" beg for donations, scam people, and disrespect those who actually served.
A simple verification system—like integrating
ID.me (what the VA already uses)—could add a badge for real veterans. It would protect our community, honor service, and stop the fakes.
Other platforms and sites do it. Why not X? We've been asking since 2022. Still nothing.
I've seen dozens of veterans post about this. Combat vets, disabled vets, Gold Star families—all saying the same: "Elon, give us a way to prove our service."
It's not about ego. It's about integrity. About building real veteran communities without imposters preying on goodwill.
But instead? Silence. Or focus on bots, ads, and premium features that don't help us.
Second, veteran suicide prevention. 22 veterans a day take their lives. That's a crisis.
This platform used to have a
#ThereIsHelp feature for suicide searches—redirecting to hotlines. It got removed under Elon. Why?
We need prominent resources: Pinned crisis lines, awareness campaigns, veteran support spaces boosted in algorithms.
X reaches millions. It could save lives. But it feels like veteran mental health isn't a priority.
Look at the feed: Endless engagement farming, trash viral posts, political rage bait, exploit videos chasing algorithms.
Those get millions of views and monetization.
Posts about veteran struggles? Suicide awareness? Calls for verification? Buried. Shadowed. Ignored.
It hurts. We served this country. Many of us are broken from it. And the "free speech" platform won't even verify or amplify our voices.
Elon talks about truth, efficiency, helping humanity. Veterans are part of humanity. We've sacrificed the most.
Yet no badge for us. No suicide prevention spotlight. No response to years of pleas.
Is it because we're not "edgy" enough for engagement? Not controversial? Or just... forgotten?
I've advocated for this tirelessly because I care. I've lost brothers and sisters to suicide. I've seen stolen valor scams hurt real vets in need.
X could fix this easily. It would cost little and mean everything to millions of us.
@elonmusk @lindayaX @X — Please listen. Implement Veteran Verification. Bring back/promote suicide prevention tools.
Show veterans we matter here.
If you're a veteran reading this, reply or quote with your story. Tag Elon. Let's make this impossible to ignore.
If you're not a vet but support us—amplify this.
We deserve better. 🇺🇸
