IIT Mandi is steadily establishing itself as a hub of global innovation and academic collaboration. The institute signed an MoU with Åbo Akademi University, Finland, to strengthen doctoral studies, double degree programs, and joint supervision. Faculty at
@iit__mandi have been active in international R&D with 14 countries—USA, UK, Sweden, Germany, Russia, South Korea, Canada, Bhutan & Nepal, Japan, Taiwan, France, Bulgaria, Israel, and Denmark. These projects reflect the institute’s growing role in advancing both fundamental and applied sciences. A faculty highlight is Prof. Chayan K. Nandi, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London, who leads active collaborations with renowned researchers in Germany, USA, Russia, France, and the UK.
Through its iHub and HCI Foundation, IIT Mandi is bridging research with industry. The HIVE 2.0 conclave featured ISRO, Samsung R&D, and PGI Chandigarh. Achievements extend further—two first prizes at the Dementia Tech Thinkathon (IISc Bangalore) and top honours at the XR Summit (IIT Madras), where awards were presented by A.R. Rahman and Prof. Steve Lavalle.
At the heart of entrepreneurship, IIT Mandi Catalyst has nurtured 550 startups, fueling innovation in healthcare, clean energy, and sustainability. Its flagship Himalayan Startup Trek has become a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to connect with investors, while initiatives like the Young Innovator Fellowship and Catalyst Kaksha cultivate student-led ventures and entrepreneurial mindsets.
