19 Aug 1916 // Light cruiser HMS Nottingham was torpedoed and sunk off Flamborough Head by German submarine U-52. Two torpedoes damaged her but she remained afloat until hit by a third 25 minutes later. 38 of her crew lost their lives. (Image © @I_W_M: Q 75363) #RoyalNavy #WW1

As we are looking back to 'Beside the Seaside this month, I will post a few related images over this month. Photographers were seen from the 1850s but were popular from the turn of the century. At first, the photographer was tied by the sizeable plate cameras.
