Q7. I tried not to take on too many things at the same time. I would have one main project at a time, and maybe a small case report or case series on the side. Another good advice from @ChemalyRoy was to work with only one faculty mentor. #TxIDChat

Q6. I count myself lucky to have the best mentor @ChemalyRoy. That said, UT used to have 3-4 sessions in Jul/Aug where faculty present their ongoing research and projects with recent fellows to the new fellows so you can pick whose work is more interesting to you #TxIDChat

Q4. And if you have a TxID pharmacist, this is a great time to learn all about the drugs, the antimicrobials and how they interact with chemo/transplant meds. If you know your drugs well, your first year (and all years) of attending will be much easier #TxIDChat

#TxIDChat Q8/ Getting involved with abx stewardship, making a niche for TID stewardship. But also… Social media!! I started @TxID_Fellows just before TID fellowship but really nurtured it during that time. Has led to so many connections and opportunities πŸ₯Ή

#TxIDChat Q7/ I actually felt more at ease during TID fellowship because I could finally focus on what I liked most about ID. But, having a comfortable place at work to do my research with access to the resources I needed helped immensely

Time blocking! You need dedicated time to gather data, analyse, and write. Put that in your calendar as a reminder and an opportunity to limit distractions. Open time quickly gets filled by others tasks/people. #TxIDChat

I think it requires curiosity (I dislike talk about passion). You have to want to explore the topic and you'll find the time/energy. Something you're struggling to engage with? There will be a mile long list of other ways to spend your time. #TxIDChat

#TxIDChat Q2/ I have several regrets but that’s a discussion better served over drinks 🀣 HOWEVER I wish I would have set aside more time to attend heme/BMT clinics (my preferred TID). I did this a bit, it was tremendously helpful but I wish I’d done more!
