Her zaman denk gelmiyor ama özellikle think-tank etkinliklerinde genç, dışarıdan katılımcı (orada staj yapmayan) gördüm mü muhabbet ediyorum. Beni bilen bilir benden küçüklerle muhabbet etmeyi pek sevmem ama şu geçiş sürecini hasarsız atlatmayı istiyorsak onların bakışına da ihtiyaç var. Neyse, Ivy League öğrencileri değiller henüz o kadar elit bir ortama denk gelemedim ama bizimkilerin en iyisinden daha iyi konumda olan, gayet de saygın üniversitelerde okuyan ya da okumuş öğrenciler bunlar. Onlarda da geleceklerine dair müthiş bir belirsizlik var. Doktora yapmak istiyorum ama hoca olma ihtimalim çok düşük diyor. Think-tank işlerinin farkındalar zaten geçen seneden beri, özellikle USAID/USIP fonları kesildikten sonra. Amerikalı genç cengaverler böyle kara kara düşünüyorken, sizde o esnada kendi kendinize şunu diyorsunuz "büyük bir şey geliyor (belki de geldi ama henüz paket açılmadı)" ve buna cidden hazırlıklı olmak lazım diye. Zira eldeki kadrolu vs işlerin artık hiçbir garantisi yok şu geçiş sürecinde.

Hayırlı olmuş diye düşünün. 25 senedir sektördeyim (evet, ‘akademi’ye sektör demek biraz kulak tırmalıyor ama ABD özelinde yüksek eğitim sektöründen bahsediyoruz).
“ABD’de sosyal bilimde doktora,” cazibesi artık eski zamanlarda kalan bir opsiyon. Sektör tam zamanlı pozisyonlar özelinde kesif bir daralma içerisinde, doktora öğrencisi sayısı ise hala çok fazla. Böyle olunca da akademik iş bulmak zor; sosyal bilimlerde doktora yaptıktan sonra özel sektör veya kamuda iş bulmak kolay değil. Bulunur da, o işlerin çoğu yüksek lisans iş tecrübesi ile bulunur, 4-6 yıl doktora ile didinmeye değmez. Özel sektörde iş bulma amaçlı doktora yapabilirsiniz, ama yine de hayatınızın baharında 4-6 seneye ipoteklenirken iyi düşünmek lazım.

This has not gotten any attention. After DOGE destroyed the (Congress created) institute of Peace / USIP, he slapped his name on the building in December, even though there’s a court case pending.
USIP Act created 1984, signed by Reagan - Bipartisan 15-member board to include Sec of Defense and State - Head of National Defense University - 12 White House appointees - confirmed by the Senate - 300 staff dispersed in Washington HQ, field offices, global conflict zones.

Keep your eye on the main thing, the revolution. This is a tactic, breakdown of law and order. Our own government agencies had classes that USAID and USIP helped pay for that taught how to do this. Taxpayers paid for them.
