#FKR and AJ fanfics keep repeating the “there was no collision" because the Lexus didn’t record one.
That sounds smart until you actually understand how the SUV works. The Lexus does not have reverse collision detection. It only has reverse cross-traffic sensors.
That means it can't ever detect a collision in reverse, only a direct, front impact. What it does, however, is log the delta-V for sudden acceleration, deceleration, or braking. Pedestrians don’t cause that; human beings do, and it's recorded by the black box--just like it did the night of John's death. So yes, it’s completely normal, expected, that there was no “collision” flag in the black box.
What did the black box record?
• 74% throttle
• 24 mph in reverse
• 87 feet traveled
• Steering input of 4.5 degrees
It captured two adverse aggressive driving events. The 3-point turn on Cedarcrest, and 8 minutes later, the high-speed reverse event. All of this happens right when John O’Keefe’s phone stops moving forever.
The “no collision” is an AJ word game, and you all bought it hook, line, and sinker. It’s like saying a plane didn’t crash because the black box didn’t label it an “impact.” Use common sense!
The data is correct, and the timing is aligned to 3 independent digital systems (Waze GPS logs, iPhone data, and the Lexus black box). Pretending Karen didn't strike John with her Lexus because it wasn't recorded as a collision doesn’t make it true.
