Our Executive Director, Anthony Ubani, appeared on @ARISEtv to further clarify the position and vision of #FixPolitics. He explained that #FixPolitics is a research-based, citizens-led organization founded on a clear theory of change: the *Triangular Pillars of Democracy.* Africaโ€™s governance crisis is rooted in broken politics โ€” and until politics is fixed, progress will remain elusive. *He outlined our three pillars:* ๐Ÿ”บ Active Citizens โ€“ Democracy only works when citizens are educated, empowered, enlightened, and actively engaged. ๐Ÿ”บ Values-Based Leadership โ€“ Through our School of Politics, Policy & Governance (SPPG), we are cultivating a new generation of leaders grounded in Character, Competence, and Capacity. ๐Ÿ”บ Institutional & Electoral Reform โ€“ We advocate for constitutional and electoral reforms that strengthen institutions, not individuals. This framework emerged from research by our Founder, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, which identified one core issue behind Africaโ€™s underdevelopment: broken politics. #FixPolitics #ActiveCitizens #ValuesBasedLeadership #DemocraticReform

When a Forest Becomes a Classroom Todayโ€™s Walk.Talk.Connect. happened in one of my favorite walking places in Nairobi: Karura Forest. For both @katemoger and I, nature is not just scenery; it is sanctuary. And Karura, in particular, carries a story. Every time I walk there, I remember the courage of Wangari Maathai and the fight it took to protect this forest. It is a living reminder that what endures is often what someone once chose to defend. Perhaps that is why our conversation naturally turned to systems change, values, and what it takes to build something new. We spoke about building organizations and movements that are values-anchored. Not as a slogan, but as a daily discipline. โ€œIt takes a lot of humility,โ€ Kate said. And it landed. Because humility is central to building anything with care and intention, knowing the power one holds, how to use it responsibly, how to enable others through it, and how not to stand in the way. I shared about our Values Champion practice at @CivsourceAfrica. We intentionally notice and name when we are living our values, how we revisit them each quarter in our retreats, and how we hold up a mirror to ourselves when we fall short. Values, after all, are not self-executing. They require tending. And perhaps that is the real work when something is new: you have the rare chance to lay foundations the right way. The harder question is how to sustain that alignment long after the โ€œnewโ€ becomes familiar. Nature offers a quiet answer. A forest keeps the big picture in view while constantly shedding, renewing, and regenerating. What no longer serves falls away. What is needed takes root. Growth is slow, but it is sure. I left the walk reminded that building institutions is not so different from tending a forest. You plant. You protect. You nurture. You trust that shade will come, even if not for you. Some leadership lessons are learned in boardrooms. Others reveal themselves on forest paths. And sometimes, the forest is not just a backdrop. It is the teacher. #WalkTalkConnect #ValuesBasedLeadership #SystemsChange

Christmas may be over, but the spirit of giving shouldnโ€™t be packed away with the decorations. ๐ŸŽ„ Giving isnโ€™t just something we do once a year, itโ€™s a mindset we can carry into every day, in how we show up, support others, and make a difference in small and meaningful ways. Iโ€™m incredibly honoured that When Iโ€™m Santaโ€™s CEO has been recognised with the Outstanding Literary Achievement award at the International Impact Book Awards. Lately, Iโ€™ve felt drawn to Kurauoneโ€”and I understand why. At its heart, Kurauone is a cautionary story about discernment. It reminds us that not every opportunity is a gift, not every promise is clean, and not every open door should be entered. Harm rarely arrives loudly; it often comes dressed as convenience, advantage, or progress. What resonates most for me now is the novelโ€™s quiet insistence that character precedes outcome. When counsel is ignored and judgment is rushed, consequences followโ€”not suddenly, but steadily. Wisdom, the story suggests, is less about intelligence and more about the courage to pause, listen, and choose restraint. In seasons of responsibility, this lesson matters. Leadership is sustained not by speed or ambition, but by clarity, humility, and ethical boundaries. Sometimes the strongest decision is the one we decline. A timely reminder: Discernment protects long before consequences appear. #EthicalLeadership #Discernment #AfricanLiterature #ValuesBasedLeadership #Integrity #LeadershipReflection

Honoured to host Sh. Govind Dholakia ji at Daly College, Indore for a dialogue on Ethics, Dharma, and Enterprise. What stood out was the quiet clarity with which lived values were translated into business practice. Not as slogans, but as discipline. Not as charity, but as responsibility. His reflection that dharma precedes wealth, and that trust grows from honesty and transparency, resonated deeply with students navigating a world where success is often defined too narrowly. At Bแน›hat, we remain committed to creating such spaces where enterprise is discussed alongside conscience, and leadership alongside character. Conversations like these remind us that institutions endure when they are built on values that people can live by, not just perform. Grateful to Daly College, the students, and Sh. Govind Dholakia ji for an exchange that was thoughtful, grounded, and formative. #EthicsInBusiness #DharmaAndEnterprise #ValuesBasedLeadership #EducationWithPurpose

#JMMMreflections Reflecting on a thought attributed to Plato, we see a poignant truth for our times: animals would never let the clumsiest member of the pack lead them. In contrast, humans often mistake leadership for noise, power for shouting, and authority for ego. True governance and leadership require: - Virtue: Recognizing that power is a means, not an end. - Wisdom: Looking beyond the next poll, election, or social media "like." - Service: Understanding that a leader is not above others but ahead for their benefit. This principle extends beyond politics; it applies to the boss you have, the team you lead, the family you support, and, most importantly, to the challenge of leading yourself. Perhaps the more pressing question today is not โ€œWho governs us?โ€ but โ€œWhat kind of leader am I in my own small circle?โ€ A society changes when it stops applauding those who shout the loudest and begins to follow those who serve the best. #ValuesBasedLeadership #CivicAwareness #LifeWithMeaning

This program has been calling me to be more self-aware,purpose-driven and grounded in my values. Last Saturday, our Module 2 was โ€œ๐Š๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐†๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐š๐ง๐โ€, facilitated by @bnamutebi. What an interesting session it was! Lively, honest, sometimes uncomfortable (because that's one way of growth), but deeply revealing. Belinda began by asking us to think about the two levels of branding: 1๏ธโƒฃ The person you are. 2๏ธโƒฃ The person you want to become. She reminded us gently but firmly, โ€œDonโ€™t give up.โ€ Because weโ€™re living in times when virtues and consistency arenโ€™t always celebrated, but staying true to your values is how your brand endures. That message stayed with me! Then came a truth that struck like lightning: ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ€œThe power of a personal brand is to CONNECT.โ€ Itโ€™s not just about being known; itโ€™s about connecting with others in a way that builds trust and reputation. Because itโ€™s our energy, attitude and how we show up for others that define how people experience us. Later that evening, as if the universe was confirming this lesson, a close friend called and said, โ€ That simple conversation made me realize that feedback is part of building a brand. It reflects how others perceive our journey, growth, and consistency. We closed with a question that made me smile and think all at once: โ€œIf I were a brand on a shelf, who would buy me, why, and how much would they pay?โ€ This journey with GROW keeps feeding my curiosity, helping me uncover who I am, what I stand for, and how I show up in the spaces I occupy. #PersonalBranding #GROWProgram #ValuesBasedLeadership
