Deep and thoughtful discussion with H.E. MoodyAwori ; A statesman, mentor, and patriot whose wisdom has continued to guide our nation as a source of guidance.
We discussed questions of youth, values, and the necessity of education to empower youth as job creators, not just job seekers. Mzee shared his tale with me, from his early days at
@Unilever , where he saw first-hand the strength of enterprise and innovation to fuel growth. He reminded me, as he has reminded so many, that Kenya's tomorrow lies among young people who graduate from campus not only with certificates, but with the bravery to innovate, to lead, and to open doors of opportunity.
He worked faithfully as Member of Parliament for Funyula (now Samia) for over 25 years and becoming Vice President to President Mwai Kibaki, a period of leadership remembered for stability and reform. The son of a Mang’u High School alumnus, his own life reflects values of discipline, integrity, and public service.
What touched me most today was not his reminiscing about the past but his warm guidance ‘ how he still stands with the next generation of leaders, including myself, calling us forward to carry on the flame of service, integrity, and nation-building.
It was an honor to also present him with my book, A Comrade Forever!! . In keeping with the spirit, Mzee attested that YES, he is indeed a Comrade too - a man whose life's calling has been about comradeship, unity, and forging a better Kenya for future generations.
Kenya's destiny will be shaped by these young leaders who learn these lessons , to hold fast to values, to embrace innovation, and to build a nation where opportunities are created, not just awaited.
As he concluded our conversation with his famous political dance, I quote his words again with pride:
"Abasamia Muri Nangee!!!"
