From the chair of the @VanDPAC — which represents parents of @VSB39 students — on their latest frustration with chair @victoriajungvan, who announced this week she's running for council with @kareemformayor. #vanpoli
Parents asked to be heard. Instead of meeting with them, Chair Jung rushed a motion calling for a statutory review of parents in under a week. This came despite DPAC having already passed a provincial resolution on parent engagement. Rather than working with parents to build on that shared work, the situation was framed as “friction.” Strong school systems are built on collaboration with families. The VSB must rebuild relationships with parent advocates so we can focus on what matters most ... our children.

8. As a Vancouver resident and taxpayer, I caution voters to pay careful attention to Ms. Jung's record. It's not good. #vanpoli

7. Meanwhile: - Teachers manage increasingly complex classrooms without enough support - Thousands of students and staff still learn and work in seismically high-risk schools Priorities matter. These were the wrong ones.

6. In 2024/25, the district paid its superintendent of schools a total of over $473,000 (source: PSEC data, most recent data available) — with indications of a significant raise since. That’s obscene in a district where frontline supports are stretched to the breaking point.

5. While students with special needs go without adequate support—and some are excluded from full-time school as a result—this Board found money elsewhere. A lot of it. But it didn't go to classrooms. /6

4. The Board’s relationships with parents and employee groups? The worst I’ve seen in over 25 years of following the @VSB39 The breakdown with @VanDPAC and employee groups didn’t happen by accident. #vanpoli /5

Oh, interesting @kerrisdalepac @VSB39 @VanDPAC Apparently @VCHhealthcare wildfire smoke advice includes air cleaners, masks outdoors, and more. @VSB39 is NOT keeping the kids safe!

this letter is brutal. First of all, breaking down how many names were exposed is completely irrelevant - partial or full, is beside the point. Is this the VSB's way of trying to minimize what happened?

The @VSB39 has posted a statement about Trustee @alfredchien1's post on X/Twitter. Has he personally apologized to the parents and @VanDPAC ? #vanpoli #bced vsb.bc.ca/page/80102/financi…

Update - I'll be going to the @VSB39 public meeting at 7 pm today in support of @VanDPAC. It's at 1580 West Broadway and open to the public. #vanpoli #bced
1. After decades of involvement with @VSB39, I’ve tried to tune out. It’s just too disheartening to watch the breakdown in relationships between the board, parents & staff — and the cost to students is enormous. #vanpoli #bced #vsb /2

3. I know how hard this work is. I was a trustee. I chaired the VSB longer than anyone in its history. Trustees run promising to help students — and then, some of them... just don’t. /4

2. But I keep hearing from exhausted, frustrated parents — especially those raising kids with disabilities — who are fighting just to get their children’s learning needs met. Some are even being sent home. That’s not inclusion. That’s exclusion. @melaniecheng123 @vandpac /3

You’re right, schools deserve better… than you. You need to resign immediately. Publishing personal information without consent is one reason. Being a fucking asshole is another. @Vote4ABC

VSB Trustee screenshoting parent names from their private emails and posting them on Twitter is not okay. This may violate s. 30 of FIPPA. Does the ABC Party support this? @Vote4ABC
