The Waste Safety Standards Committee #WASSC meets in #Vienna this week for its 61st meeting at @iaeaorg HQ to discuss for approval the safety standards that guide countries in radioactive waste management, decommissioning and remediation. Discussions also cover radiation protection and safety for AI and small modular reactors, and international cooperation for remediating uranium legacy sites. @IAEAorg Director of Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety Hildegarde Vandenhove emphasized the safety standards as a shared “commitment of responsibility” to protect people and the environment from harmful effects of ionizing radiation, and to ensure that the peaceful uses of nuclear technology remain safe, secure and sustainable. The way that our secondary school curriculum was structured, you're supposed to be able to work anywhere when you're graduate from secondary school if you actually paid attention and studied well. I know a man who worked in a lab with WASSC and did NOUN years after in Nigeria.
I'm genuinely sad & surprised that you don't need Uni before you can make money in the US. 2 of my friends in the US never finished uni, but they work with airline companies, good pay & get to travel around the world. But my engineering BSC ass in Nigeria can't bag a 100k job.💔

ICYMI: The Washington State ban violates the US Constitution and runs afoul of Bruen, Heller. Any unconstitutional law is made moot by existence. You don't have to comply with it, in case you don't understand legal-speak. You can rightfully ignore the WASSC rulings in like kind.
The DC Court of Appeals ruled today that banning magazines over 10 rounds is a violation of the Second Amendment. SCOTUS must stop dragging its feet, and grant certiorari to Duncan v Bonta. End these bans nationwide!

1. I am currently drawing pension from the FG and will get that till death. I have a record of service and a discharge certificate, both signed by the "Chief HR" of the Nigerian Army on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff. 2. I enlisted into the Nigerian Army with a WASSC and left with an MSc, numerous certificates of course completion and membership of a think-tank. 3. While serving in the Nigerian Army, I contributed my quota to the preservation of the continuous existence of Nigeria. What is your own achievement?

No. There's marking error or they deliberately graded that course in a weird way. Students who already made good grades in Neco last year including Jamb English cannot get an F9 in WASSC. Yes they wrote at night but it's more than that

“THE JAMB AND WAEC FIASCO: NBA DEMAND FOR URGENT THOROUGH INVESTIGATION BY THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY” The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) recently released the results of the examinations it conducted for students seeking admission into higher institutions in Nigeria for tertiary education. There were complaints from many of the students and their parents about the scores given them by JAMB. It was reported that a 19-year-old, Miss Timilehin Faith Opesusi from Abeokuta but resident in Lagos State committed suicide for getting a low score in the 2025 UTME. The Registrar of JAMB, Professor Oloyede while addressing the press admitted that JAMB's computer systems were hacked and compromised, and this led to the cancellation of the results of 379,997 candidates that sat for the 2025 UTME in 157 centres in Lagos and the South Eastern part of Nigeria. The West Africa Examination Council in trying to outdo JAMB, is also currently conducting its West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSC) for Secondary school students all over Nigeria. The discomforting news from the various examination centres have been that of shock, disbelief and disrespect to the rights of students. Apparently, for the first time in Nigeria, reports from several examination halls in the various States indicated that students were forced to write examinations in the night and in some other cases up to 9pm with the aid of candles and torchlight of phones, for those that could afford them. The examination halls were in dark. The invigilators were also seen using torchlight from their phones. The English Language Paper 2 & 3 that were originally scheduled for 4pm on the 28th of May, 2025 ended up starting about 7pm same day. Many students and schools expressed their frustrations about the extended time which led to fatigue and the associated security implications. Two days ago, at Government Secondary School, Namnai in Gassol Local Government of Taraba State, a classroom building collapsed while students were still writing the WASSC examination at about 6pm. They only narrowly escaped death. Students, teachers and invigilators were trapped in the rubble and it took the effort of members of the local community to rescue them. The injured amongst them were taken to the hospital. It is very concerning that a new trend of impunity is now emerging from institutions that ought to be leading the way for a better Nigeria. The right to education is a constitutional right and more importantly, the right to treat Nigerian students with dignity and respect is a guaranteed fundamental right every student owns by being a Nigerian. The conduct of examinations under shambolic and inclement conditions is unacceptable as it will affect the students' preparation for the examinations. No sane human being should be compelled to sit for an examination that was advertised to be conducted in the daytime but ended up being done in the night, well outside the time published by the examination body. WAEC did not advertise that its examinations will be conducted in the night in halls where there would be no adequate facilities like power and security. The students never contracted with WAEC to sit for examinations in the night. Any examination conducted under such circumstance is already compromised and amounts to a breach of the students' contractual rights and sections 34 and 39 of the Constitution guaranteeing their right to respect for the dignity of their persons and freedom to receive knowledge, ideas and information. We therefore, call upon the leadership of the National Assembly (the Senate and the House of Representatives) to urgently set up a joint Committee to investigate the circumstances that led to these unfortunate incidents occasioned by the two examination bodies and ensure that those persons responsible face the consequences of their actions. The absence of consequences will only lead to a re-occurrence that may be worse. @afamosigwe SAN

Since the occurrence of these incidents, no statement or intervention has been made by the Federal Ministry of Education, which is the supervisory Ministry for both JAMB and WAEC. Public officials must be held accountable for every dereliction and how they exercise of their official powers. JAMB and WAEC in their latest examination exercises, have therefore, 1

WASSC dont play politics by announcing Anambra as too best, it beat my imagination when you rely on Soludo's comment instead of an independent institution. Obi remains the best and no one will force you to believe it.

Peter Obi was a total failure as governor. They call him Adaobi and curse him. The man has no morals. Desperate to record a win in education, he established Miracle centres all over Ammbra and made teachers write answers to blackboard for WASSC candidates.

Celebrating Academic Brilliance! Join us in celebrating pediatrician Dr. Musa Jaiteh, who recently became a fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP part I) pediatrics faculty. This fellowship is one of the prestigious accolades that qualify Doctors in the subregion as specialists in their respective areas. Dr. Jaiteh has recently become one of the few Gambian specialists in pediatrics after passing his FWACP examinations in Ghana. The examination leading to the fellowship is one of the most challenging and most competitive postgraduate assessments for doctors in the subregion, and becoming a Fellow demonstrates Dr. Jaiteh's commitment to providing quality healthcare for sick children in the Gambia. With a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Dr. Jaiteh is part of the first batch of Gambian-trained pediatricians accredited by the West African College of Physicians. Dr Jaiteh's journey into medicine began from a humble beginning. He was born and raised in Kuntaur Fulla Kunda in the Central River Region North of the Gambia and attended Kuntaur Primary and Junior Secondary Schools. After passing his GABECE, Dr Jaiteh moved to Nustrat High School in Bundung, where he sat for the WASSC examinations and passed as the best science student in his cohort. His intelligence, love for science, and desire to care for people led him to join the School of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences of The University of The Gambia, where he graduated in 2014 with a first-class medical degree. Since 2015, Dr. Jaiteh has been dedicated to working at the pediatrics department of Edward Francis Teaching Hospital in Banjul. Through his work, he has saved many children's lives and put smiles on many patients and their families.
