Romanian deadlift. Leg press. Walking lunges. Progressive overload every single week. More weight or more reps than the week before. Every session without exception. As a complete beginner his body responded to this stimulus dramatically. His muscles had never been challenged this way before. So they grew quickly and visibly in response. By month two people around him were commenting on his shoulders and arms before the scale had moved dramatically. The muscle was building underneath the fat that was leaving. Both happening simultaneously.
