This isn’t just one Canadian. This is what life looks like in Canada after 11 years of Liberal government. A working news reporter with a “decent job” is now using the food bank for the first time in his life because his pay no longer covers the mortgage, utilities, groceries, and basic necessities. He’s not lazy. He’s not unemployed. He’s doing exactly what they told us to do — get an education, work hard, contribute — and he’s still falling behind. This is the new normal they created. Record food bank usage across the country. First-time users flooding in. Working poor exploding. Housing costs that doubled in many cities while wages stagnated. Grocery prices that crushed families while they bragged about “affordability.” Carbon taxes, deficits, mass immigration without homes or infrastructure — all of it landing on regular Canadians. Food banks were never meant to become a permanent subsidy for the middle class. They were a temporary backstop. Now they’re overwhelmed because the cost of just existing under this government became too much. This is managed decline dressed up as progress. If you’re working, trying, and still can’t get ahead — you’re not failing. The system was built to make you feel that way. #cdnpoli #LiberalFail #WorkingPoor #FoodBankCrisis #CanadaFirst

Like this if you skipped lunch today just to survive.Double shifts, child support taken before you see it, delivery apps robbing you blind, still called “privileged” for showing up.We’re not lazy — we’re the engine they drain while others get excuses and free rides.Wage slaves unite. Drop your skipped meals count below. This ends when we stop pretending it’s fair.#WageSlave #SkipLunchSolidarity #WorkingPoor #CostOfLivingCrisis #TaxedToDeath #AmericanSerf

Freezing “in-work benefits” sounds simple… until you actually think about who it affects. These are people already working, often in low-paid, insecure jobs, using support to bridge the gap between wages and the real cost of living. Freeze that while prices rise, and it’s not a saving… it’s a cut in real terms. And let’s be clear on PIP, it isn’t a bonus or an “extra” to trim. It exists because disability comes with unavoidable additional costs. Cutting it doesn’t remove those costs, it just pushes them onto disabled people and their families. This isn’t about fairness or responsibility. It’s about deciding who carries the burden, and it’s always the same people. #UniversalCredit #BenefitCap #PIP #DisabilityCosts #CostOfLiving #UKPolitics #WelfareReform #SocialJustice #WorkingPoor

Japan update: A part-time woman works 8 hours and earns about $45, only to be fined nearly $40 for a minor bicycle violation on her way home. Under former Prime Minister Kishida, absurd policies have been pushed through that end up punishing the most vulnerable people like this. This is what Japanese politicians are doing to ordinary citizens. #Journalism #BreakingNews #InvestigativeJournalism #WorkingPoor #CostOfLivingCrisis #Reuters #BBCNews #CNN #Bloomberg #APNews

Just having a nosey at the MLA's register of interest. The very first one I clicked has me miffed. Why did @SRAikenUUP get freebies from @belfastairport and @BELFASTCITY_AIR? Free parking and access to the lounge in the Templepatrick airport is handy! 🏌‍♂️#Payrise #WorkingPoor

According to recent reporting from FoodForward SA, food insecurity is significantly higher in women-led households.  Of course it is. When your income barely covers transport and rent, food becomes the shock absorber. Meals get skipped. Portions shrink. Nutrition suffers quietly. And yet, there are still political parties that oppose the minimum wage. Without it, we are told, the market would sort things out. Employers would pay fairly. Competition would raise standards. #GOODParty #MinimumWage #WorkingPoor

BOILING FROG CANADA — EDITION 2026 🔥🐸 Drop a frog in boiling water? It JUMPS OUT. Heat the water slowly? It sits there… smiling… until it’s DEAD. That’s NOT a metaphor anymore. THAT’S OUR COUNTRY RIGHT NOW!! While Mark Carney — the guy who went from Bank of Canada to Brookfield billionaire to Prime Minister — quietly builds ethics “screens” and pushes legislation that conveniently protects decision-makers from real conflict-of-interest scrutiny… …ordinary Canadians are being slo-cooked alive, politely, on schedule, with a smile. Fact check (Food Banks Canada HungerCount 2025):
2.2 MILLION food bank visits in one single month (March 2025).
Double what it was in 2019.
Up another 5.2% year-over-year.
33% are children — that’s 712,000 kid visits a month.
And 19.4% of users have jobs. Full-time jobs. Still can’t eat. A teenage cashier told me last week: “This is just how it is now.”
She works retail and still can’t buy groceries without the food bank. These aren’t “edge cases.”
These are teachers, tradespeople, nurses, tech workers, mid-career professionals with “good jobs” who are now begging for overtime, side hustles, and second incomes — not to get ahead, but to keep their kids in hockey and put real food on the table. Vacations? Gone.
 Savings? Gone.
Breathing room? Gone. Meanwhile the spending keeps ballooning, the debt keeps exploding, and the people writing the rules never feel the heat — because they already own the pot, the stove, and the entire damn kitchen. When you’re insulated from consequence:
 Inflation is “transitory.”
 Ethics are “optional.”
Your neighbour’s kid going hungry is “someone else’s problem.” The cruelest part?
Most voters still don’t see it.
They accept every new tax, every quiet carve-out, every “temporary” sacrifice.
They’re told it’s responsible. Necessary. For the greater good. The water keeps warming. By the time they realise who got protected, who got sacrificed, and who paid the bill… There’s nowhere left to jump. This didn’t happen overnight.
 It happened politely.
 Incrementally.
 With photo-ops, slogans, and “Elbows Up!” cheers. That’s how you boil a country. WHAT A LOAD FOR THE TOAD. 🐸💢 #BoilingFrogCanada #CarneyConflicts #2Point2Million #WorkingPoor #CostOfLivingCrisis #Canada2026

And, I’m astonished that full-time workers have become the workingpoor due to the greed of international corporations, thus the necessity for breakfast clubs. But you wouldn’t know about that Jan having spent a lot of your working life feeding off of the taxpayers through the BBC
