Chinese Neuromodulation Technologies Debut in Zimbabwe
Harare, May 29, 2026 — Cutting-edge Chinese neuromodulation technologies, including Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS), were officially launched in Harare, filling Zimbabwe’s gap in minimally invasive neurological treatment.
The launch ceremony was attended by diplomatic officials and leaders from Parirenyatwa Hospital. Supported by the 23rd Chinese Medical Team to Zimbabwe, the new techniques enable local treatment for Parkinson’s disease, intractable neuralgia and spinal cord injuries.
Chinese experts guided on-site surgical demonstrations, provided professional imaging support and conducted systematic hands-on training, helping local physicians master standardized clinical procedures.
As a landmark achievement of China-African health cooperation, the project boosts Zimbabwe’s neurological medical capacity. The Chinese medical team will continue technological assistance and talent training via the China-Africa Hospital Alliance to advance the China-Africa health community.
