Every time someone reminds me of the Id/Carmack phone RPG games, I get sad and then angry that I can't play Doom or Wolfenstein RPG on my iPhone.
The 32-bit appageddon Apple imposed really killed any trust or enthusiasm I had for mobile gaming.
What Apple could do: exclude apps not updated in over two years from search by default but allow users to override. But that would 1) have to applied *evenly* and 2) add complexity.
So instead Apple drives another nail into indie gaming still reeling from 32-bit appageddon.

I have a folder of games on my iPhone that are dead due to appageddon. My hope is soon they will join the mighty @GameClub folder. (If you’ve been an iOS gamer for a long while, visit and join GameClub. It’s ace.)
We covered this extensively on @EventMB - search Appageddon. Will update in the next Event App Bible in a few months. I am sad for small businesses being impacted.
