His name is literally synonymous to Avatar in the gaming sense; since he is your "link" to the games. So yes, he is blank slate enough despite having a complex story. But even if he wasn't, getting to name him whatever is part of the fun so I hope they don't take that away.

What wasn't working ?He reduced the conflicts to a minimum, humans regained their own world and the Avatar had a simple job of putting out small fires. That will always sound 1000x better than humans getting displaced by the spirits vines while they can't visit the spirit world
