First and foremost, as you all know: “no promises, just bird.”
But! birdjpg has been working on something fun and stupid for some time now, and it is almost time to reveal it.
However, a decision has to be made first - and the decision will be based on the result of this twitter poll.
There is a total of 8008 birdjpg's. As of today, 500 birds have found a home, which is approximately 6% of all birds (which is amazing).
Needless to say, there are more than enough birds in existence to satisfy the demand for birds for the
#XRPCommunity. The philosophy of birdjpg is and have always been that everyone should be able to
#getbird, which is why a regular bird is just 1xrp.
Our
#XRPCommunity have many incredible projects and builders, and they deserve a big shout-out! They've are doing an amazing job expanding our ecosystem, bringing adoption and welcoming more people to the XRPL. birdjpg wants to help in its own way.
As you know, some birds naturally migrate. So, what if we let 10% of our "regular bird's", "nerd bird's", "cool bird's" and "babe bird's" take a flight of their own and migrate over to Ethereum? This would leave "sir bird's" and the "almighty bird" exclusive to their original XRPL home.
How? Well:
A total of 800 birds will be burned on the XRPL, in order to mint them on Ethereum as fair and equal as possible.
These Ethereum-migrated birds will keep the same URI (same actual jpg on the IPFS) and their XRPL transaction and token data will be preserved in the JSON as attributes. This way, even on Ethereum, these birds will still sing their song about their
#XRPL roots, reminding everyone that birdjpg originated here on the XRPL.
Worth noting is that the price per bird will be significantly higher on Ethereum which gives people incentives to join the XRPL and
#getbird here instead.
I believe this could be great way to invite more users to the
#XRPL, while ensuring that birdjpg maintains its integrity a XRPL NFT Collection.
Plus, if it works out, birdjpg will have more resources to continue living up to the spirit of delivering on "no promises". The decision of this poll will impact the amount of future birdstuff birdjpg will be able to create.
However, this should not be on the expense of the birdholders feeling that birdjpg made a disappointing decision, which is why I ask you all <3
