We are pleased to share that Mr. Khagendra Joshi, Deputy Technical Officer (Research), IIIT-Delhi, presented a poster titled โStructured Lab-Based Interventions to Enhance Teaching Quality and Student Learning Outcomes in Higher Educationโ at the India Higher Education Research Conference (IHERC) 2025, held at R&I Park, IIT Delhi, recently.
The work highlights his systematic efforts to strengthen lab-centric engineering education across
B.Tech,
M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs, addressing challenges such as inconsistent lab utilization, limited hands-on exposure, and inefficient lab workflows.
Key initiatives presented include:
- Redesign of teaching labs and lab structures with integrated theory and activity-based experiments
- Cloud Lab integration, combining hardware and software platforms to extend access beyond physical labs
- Student-centric initiatives such as freeze time, lab quizzes, internships, hackathons, and teaching initiatives
- An innovation pipeline through a Project-to-Product model, patent encouragement, and CIPD support
Impact and outcomes:
- Improved student learning outcomes and lab efficiency
- Successful implementation of Cloud Labs at IIIT-Delhi
- Development of a GUI-based IC Tester (patent published; presented at IEEE iSES 2024)
- Hardware prototypes for next-generation technologies, with outcomes presented at conferences, DoT Hackathons, and IMC
Through these structured lab-based interventions, IIIT-Delhi continues to reinforce its commitment to experiential learning, research-driven education, and innovation-led teaching practices.
