So, if you are just catching up with the weekends politics;
The Special Advisor to the President
@paultungwarara moved to protect the integrity of the Presidency by engaging
@matinyarare on the issue of what comes down to services rendered and not paid and was now escalating into all sorts.
Tungwarara's private arbitration has become the most watched and eye-popping play in this saga. However, the efficacy of this arbitration rests entirely upon a delicate balance of give and take—success is a strictly two-way street.
The Special Advisor’s intervention has demonstrated his absolute seriousness, stepping well outside his regular mandate—and going far out of his way—to personally engineer a resolution. Out of loyalty to the President and a deep commitment to shielding the parties involved from catastrophic collateral damage, the Advisor has put his own considerable gravitas on the line. He also did the hardest thing in any standoff. He gave first. He paid and put a new Land Cruiser 200series on the table before asking the other side for anything.
Now; the current show in town is to learn how/if one side cannot be the only one giving; this de-escalation attempt only holds if both sides give & take.
Rutendo now has room for his own win.
A win for him is: a settlement he can accept with his head held high, on terms that do not require the full 100% to be paid for the matter to be closed. The matter underneath is ordinary commerce. A win is a definitive resolution to his payout matter. A win realistically need not dictate a rigid, 100% financial payout; rather, it means achieving a mutually acceptable settlement on terms that all parties can realistically live with. Maybe squaring away the outstanding transaction—an issue the Advisor’s Office didn't create.
A win for the Advisor is: A face-saving exit ramp that walks back the intemperate language and heated rhetoric traded in the moment, the optics of mutual respect mean Rutendo offering an apology at the very least removing the President’s name from the attack. The advisor will have to secure from Rutendo a walk back on the rhetorical excesses that where sparked by the friction
If the sides cannot secure both the substance of a mutually acceptable settlement and the dignity of mutual respect, the entire de-escalation collapses.
After that, your guess is as good as mine.
We cannot tolerate a system wherein we passively observe individuals disparaging the President under the pretext of claiming outstanding dues. If we must go out of our way to settle these grievances for the greater good of our leader, thereby silencing this unproductive noise and redirecting our collective focus toward national development rather than daily propaganda and recordings—then so be it.
A significant number of individuals have already overcome their past grievances to return to the fold, pledging their support to ZANU-PF and the President, with some even crossing over from the opposition. Ultimately, our success depends entirely on how we engage with those who have not yet embraced the President’s vision, ensuring they are integrated into our collective march toward 2030. My purpose is not to fuel social media hostility against the presidency; rather, I am resolute in my commitment to intercept and neutralize these attacks by any means necessary.
It is far better that public scrutiny be redirected toward me than to permit the entire nation to be distracted by baseless assaults on the President, particularly when these matters can be swiftly resolved by addressing the minor financial claims in question.
Thank you, and have a blessed Sunday.
