Time's up little flower! Deadheading is such an unpleasant fate for what once was a beautiful blossom. For the health of the overall plant and to promote new blooms, deadhead regularly—it is an easy task. If you wait until the spent blossoms set seeds, most annuals and some perennials including repeat-blooming roses stop producing new flowers. Remove the spent flowers to extend the bloom period of most plants and give them a well-cared-for, neat appearance. Simply pinch off the flower head with your fingers, or use a pair of sharp bypass pruners for thick, woody stems. Our experts demonstrate step-by-step deadheading at the link.🔗

ALT Deadheading is a form of pinch-pruning that removes the fading flower head from a plant to encourage renewed bud formation and new flowers to open.
