Appearance
Thorne is a towering, broad-shouldered male in his mid-40s, standing at 6'7" with a heavy, immovable presence. His skin has a rough, bark-like texture with deep green and brown tones, especially visible on his forearms, neck, and jawline where living oak veins pulse faintly with inner life-force. His hair is thick, mossy dark green with streaks of silver, tied back in a warrior’s knot. A thick beard woven with small living vines and glowing acorns frames his face. His eyes are deep amber, like polished resin.
He wears heavy plate armor forged from living ironwood and Alliance steel, adorned with emerald runes that glow when he channels nature magic. A massive tower shield made from the heartwood of an ancient sentinel tree is strapped to his back, and he wields a one-handed warhammer called Verdant Judgment. Thick roots sometimes coil around his boots and gauntlets during battle, anchoring him to the earth.
Backstory
Thorne was born in the fortified border town of Deeproot Hold, where ancient human bloodlines mixed with the essence of the Elder Treants who once guarded the Great Verdant Belt. As a child, he survived the catastrophic "Blightfall Incident" when a massive Horde necromantic ritual poisoned the land and nearly wiped out his home. A dying Elder Treant sacrificed its life force to save him, merging part of its essence with his body and awakening the Oakborn traits.
This transformation granted him unnatural strength and a deep connection to nature, but it also bound him to the land — if the forests of the Alliance suffer, so does he. He rose through the ranks of the Alliance’s Verdant Bulwark, an elite order of heavy infantry and nature guardians who hold the line against Horde incursions.
Thorne earned the name "Ironroot" after single-handedly holding a mountain pass for three days during the Siege of Blackthorn Gap, his body literally rooting into the stone as he became an immovable bulwark while his comrades regrouped. He now serves as a Captain, leading mixed units of Humans, Felari, and Elves on dangerous reclamation missions into blighted territories.
Personality & Abilities
Personality: Stoic, honorable, and deeply protective. Thorne speaks slowly and deliberately, like an old tree creaking in the wind. He has a dry, earthy sense of humor and shows surprising gentleness toward civilians and young recruits. While he respects the Felari like Sylas for their skill, he often clashes with their more ruthless methods, believing that blind vengeance only feeds the cycle of war. He fights not for revenge, but for restoration — he dreams of one day healing the scarred lands and seeing new forests grow where blight once ruled.
Key Skills:
Living Bulwark: Can temporarily root himself to the ground, becoming nearly immovable while regenerating health and empowering nearby allies with nature energy.
Ironroot Hammer: Delivers devastating blows that can cause earthquakes or summon entangling roots.

His oak-like body makes him slower and less agile than lighter races. Fire and necrotic magic are especially dangerous to him, causing intense pain and weakening his regeneration. If he stays away from living nature too long, his bark skin cracks and his strength fades.
