So Mina ngithi - Are FIFA's Solidarity Compensation and Training Compensation Mechanisms adequate tools to address the losses that football development institutions inevitably face? Is this system functional in South Africa or across the entire African continent? Developing clubs and institutions should not hinder players, but they deserve fair compensation for their investments.
Additionally, when there is an opportunity to sell a player, clubs should take advantage of that by banking on further transfer clauses, rather than losing a player and the potential revenue.
The involvement of various stakeholders such as the footballer, their guardians, the developing club, the potential buying club, the agent, the federation, the league, sponsors, and the players' unions, should play a crucial role in the player development pathway. This collaboration should ensure the well-being and health of the football ecosystem in a just and equitable manner.
