Four Years On, Where Is Rajgir Film City?
@ArtCultureYouth
The Bihar government first announced the Film City project in 2017. Nearly 20 acres of land were acquired, and crores were spent by the Building Construction Department to build a boundary wall. On 8 August 2020, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the boundary wall, raising expectations that Rajgir would soon transform into a major hub for tourism and film production.
However, more than four years have passed, and not a single step of actual construction has begun on the site. The project appears stuck in paperwork, with no visible progress on the ground. What’s even more alarming is that the acquired land is still being used for farming. Inside the boundary wall, farmers continue to cultivate paddy and other seasonal crops, which are currently being harvested. Cattle can also be seen grazing freely, reflecting the stalled state of the project.
