Sadly it just doesn't work for my current worfklow, I fight all of the editor based game engines because of the way I work and end up frustrated, Unity, Godot, Gamemaker. Lately gravitated more towards Phaser, Bevy, DragonRuby etc. Defold is a wonderful engine but not for me rn!
Should I make my next game in @defold ? Only thing putting me off is am a little worried about configuring the java dependencies for CLI building like I am used to (I love to make custom tooling and scripts for deployment, and prefer that to the built in editor tools in engines).

確かにdragonruby がmrubyのコンパイラを既につくっていましたね、 AOベンチ動いてるみたいので仕組みを研究してみたいです Matz氏キーノートでもAOTやっていたけど、あっちはバイナリサイズ減特化が違い(?) HLいらなければAOTよさそう。特にwasmとかだと #RubyKaigi blog.llvm.org/posts/2024-12-…

感謝您的回覆 這是個很有趣而且成果也令人滿意的嘗試,我其實也很喜歡這樣的嘗試,確實 Ruby 的特性想要編譯成 .NET IL 這件事情有點難度,但有像 github.com/dragonruby/lights… 這樣子的專案(編譯成 MLIR)存在的話, 像是 mruby IL 這種已經相當程度地處理過的 IL 說不定更能嘗試部分 AOT 成 .NET IL

Inspired by DragonRuby and a quick chat with @amirrajan at @RBQConf in Austin I threw together a five-minute JRuby Simple Directmedia Layer example using the LWJGL bindings! I'm actually shocked how easily this worked. JRuby is really amazing! 🤩

Do you miss Loop Hero? Me too. Built the first few levels of "The Forgotten Circle" this weekend for @RealAstropulse's retro diffusion game jam. Loop Hero meets Slay the Spire an auto-battler roguelite where a circle of amnesiac wizards walks a cursed path, placing cards to reshape the world around them. 15-20 min run, with a bit of narrative. Made with Dragonruby and playable on itch.

Oh wow, someone built a profiler for DragonRuby Game Toolkit: pvande.itch.io/firestarter Super cool! I love the "please don't buy a commercial license until you make money" note, too. But sorry, good sir: it's an instant buy over here even without a specific game in mind. :)
