1977-D Lincoln Cent – Major Colossal Strike Crime SceneThis is one of the finest mint-made error coins I’ve documented.Under extreme pressure, the dies failed dramatically during the strike. The result: a violent “ripped face” across Lincoln’s portrait with heavy metal tearing, massive flow lines, and severe rim damage showing “dead/dying die” marks (including star-like patterns). All of this is 100% mint-made — a clear record of a major mechanical breakdown at the Denver Mint. Protected areas still show original cartwheel luster, proving the coin never circulated. This isn’t damage. This is a mint crime scene captured in copper — raw, dramatic, and artistic in its chaos.Extensively studied with Tomlov microscope and over 1,700 photos. Part of my “Art for Defects” collection. The story is in the metal. The graders may not see it, but the coin tells the truth.#ErrorCoins #MintError #1977D #ArtForDefectsFor Facebook (you can add more if you want): You can copy the above and add at the end: “After months of forensic research, this is what a real colossal strike looks like. The mint press had a very bad day — and this coin survived to tell the tale.”
