Flipped Ed tips 25: This system works best when you have created a culture of responsibility in your class. Ss have to want to be part of this system. Spend time on the "buy-in" to ensure student success and the success of the program. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tips 24: During this time the bulk of my teaching is through feedback. I create lessons and teach synchronous and asynchronously, but mostly I'm giving feedback. The feedback takes all week and is probably the most important teaching I am doing. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip #23: Find a good video editing tool. I used @animotica today to edit this video on @edpuzzle and @Schoology Integration. It is free for basic features. It makes me look like an improved amateur...maybe. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip#22: A great old idea. Have Ss take a historical event and make up a story about being there. Using historical facts. Maybe play a game where they have to improv on certain topics through flipgrid. Communication, critical thinking, and creativity #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip #21: If you have learners who struggle, make sure you include a "how-to" for everything, even tech and communication tools. Teach split screen. Smaller chunked vids. assignment reminder apps.Provide immersive reader and translations. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip #19: One suggestion would be to create small learning communities by sharing Google docs with seperate groups of Ss. Then have them work on a concept together. They can pose questions that you can answer or bring to the whole group for discussion. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tips#16: Yesterday @PearDeck added audio to your options. It can be used as a quick (one-stop shop) formative concept check with audio. There is a tutorial this practice deck for you to try. It is basic but shows the potential. app.peardeck.com/student/tll… #flippedEdtips

Replying to @CHLucy3
I also have some ideas on #flippedEdtips. Some original, but all influenced by someone else along my educational journey. But start with Carol Ann Tomlinson for original ideas about differentiation. You will find C.Tucker's stuff is just a copy of this with technology added.

Flipped Ed tip #14: Another suggestion would be to gather periodic feedback from your students on the amount of assignments, their engagement levels, concerns, variety, your presence, and rigor of assignments. This will be valuable info during this time. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip #12: A suggestion on technology implementation. The tendency now is to find a new tech tool rather than find the problem that needs to be addressed. Find the problem, then find the best tool to address it. You may not actually need a new tool. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip#11: Good online discussion tips- 1) authentic Q's 2) moderate often, 3) quality feedback 4) active questioning 5) encourage open response (citations for more rigor) 6) and have guidelines for proper conduct. *Be real, be present, keep them thinking. #flippedEdtips

Excellent making the learning personal and genuine! Discussion boards are a great tool but Ss have to feel like you are reading the posts and giving feedback. Other forms of response are also great. But w/o timely feedback and genuineness it will be a joke. #flippedEdtips
Considering that half of my college classes are using discussion boards, I can agree that they are NOT effective. None of it feels genuine - people comment the bare minimum to get points and then forget about it.

Flipped Ed tip #8: Haven't tried @PearDeck student-paced yet? Try it! It addresses SEL and Ss have the ability answer Q's ahead of time for a zoom meeting. Then you can easily ⭐ the answers and use it for the discussion. Saves time! If you need help reach out. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip#7: This comes from @nhjbteach and @BeerEDUPod ep.66. I am paraphrasing but Justin Ballou suggested shrinking the real estate Ss have to get a more symbolic product. Force better critical thinking on a smaller canvas. Education could do the same. #flippedEdtips

Flipped Ed tip #5: A good suggestion is to create a video on how to interact with your content, watch videos, take notes, and other skills the Ss may need to be successful with this new teaching method. Ss may be confused at first which can lead to frustration. #flippedEdtips
