I have been asked a question:
Why am I so relaxed if Labour win Makerfield?
If Labour win nothing changes, in the interim.
What could change?
Burnham wins, over the next 6 months there will be a leadership contest. There’s no guarantee he will win that, there are still many supporters of Starmer.
If he does win the leadership contest, there is a possibility he could call a snap general election.
If a snap general election is called, and Restore haven’t got all their ducks in a row, then those who would have voted Restore would vote for Reform.
That said, if no snap election is forthcoming (although highly likely) then Restore have until the end of 28/29 to ensure they have all their candidates lined up.
Labour are finished whoever is at the helm.
This is why I am so relaxed!
That said, it is important for the growth of Restore that we campaign hard in Makerfield, this will get the media’s attention where they can no longer ignore the fastest growing political history.
