"Learned GDScript out of spite and stubbornness" is the most honest solo dev origin story I've read. The IKEA furniture/Control nodes analogy is painfully accurate. Rooting for April to be kinder to your UI.

I like script coding though. AI can also help lot more in text scripts. Unity has C# and Godot has GDScript/C#. While drag drop visual scripting of UE5 soon turns in to visual spaghetti for complex scripts.

I'm a composer who learned GDScript out of spite and stubbornness. March taught me that a great game with terrible UI is still a terrible game. I spent the first week fighting Godot's Control nodes like a civilian trying to assemble IKEA furniture without instructions. Buttons in the wrong place. I agree. I started learning some basic programming (gdscript) and after 4 hours I'm completely cooked. Working for 8 hours? Not a problem. Learning for 4 hours? I'm done for the day.

I think I have a good plan to introduce programming to my 10 yo son. He's gone through a bunch of courses based on Scratch. It's time to start traditional source code programming. - focus is game development - platform is Godot - language is gdscript (similar enough to python) - we go over full online tutorials together - I act as a student that learns with him too - go over 2 or 3 online tutorials that cover the same concepts There's nothing bad about me being the teacher and my son being the student. However, this structure where both of us are students together is likely to have higher learning impact. (just a personal opinion from my experience teaching at a university)

Im hiring for for a sonic fan game what I need is: 3d modelers 3d model riggers voice actors(DM me for who is available) someone good with godot/Gdscript and i know this sucks, but since its a sonic fan game (and i have no money) there are no "money" payments

I went from learning S&box with C# to now learning Godot in GDscript and I have to say, I LOVE this language so much. I'm glad I learned beginner C#, but I'm loving this indentation language.
