GA4's "Direct" traffic is grossly innarcuate🤥
Email clicks. Mobile links. AI referrals. App traffic. All dumped into one bucket because Google built their channel model in 2005 and never updated it 📦
Your "Direct" channel is actually:
• 📧 20% email they can't be bothered to track
• 📱 Every in-app browser click (Instagram, WhatsApp, Slack)
• 🤖 AI referrals converting at 14% — averaged down and hidden
• 👻 Dark social they'll never admit exists
Cookies are Google's business. Fixing attribution is not 🍪💰
