Grayl- takes out bacteria, viruses, etc. Have use it on lakes and rivers for years. No boil needed. You can still do it and I probably would if I was filtering literal mud like this, but I typically don't.

Took me 6 hours to hike 6km at a total elevation gain 650M with a 30kg pack. The last 400M was brutal and frankly not sure I could make it. 45 degrees had me creeping along. All this while trying to film and I underestimated my water requirements so was continuously having to fill. On top of that I forgot my Grayl. I fell well short of my first waypoint. While I'm happy with the attempt I've made so many mistakes, which started off with 2km deteor I never intended on. By the time I got on my plotted route I was already burning. Second mistake was pushing past beautiful even camping ground in an attempt to make up lost time only to settle for a bumpy slope. I did not see the sunset nor will I see the sunrise I had planned as I'm in a valley. I might leave everything at my base camp tomorrow to push for the peak. Many lessons learned. Most notably that I'm only 28 in my heart. 🤣 Nothing went to plan. I might not get the video I wanted. But I learned some brutal shit. Good night.

This is my grab-and-go preparedness kit. Everything organized in a Milwaukee PACKOUT, ready to toss in the truck. Water filtration with a Grayl titanium bottle that removes bacteria, viruses, and heavy metals. Electrolytes and salt for hydration. Fire starting and cooking essentials. Navigation and awareness tools. Safety and protection gear. Communication and power. A sewing and repair kit. Multi-use items that cover the gaps. This is not a tool kit. It's the "non-tool" essentials that keep you hydrated, warm, fed, aware, and able to handle injuries and repairs in the field.

grayl.jp/

From a listener - just finished listening—solid episode, man. Really like how you hammered home define your disaster first instead of just endlessly stacking stuff. That flamethrower gift story cracked me up, and the GRAYL filter shout-out was spot on. The mindset shift from one more battery to actually auditing what you have and rotating it like a smart grocery store is the kind of no-BS advice a lot of new preppers need to hear. Loved the app recommendations too—Sortly and Out of Milk are legit game-changers, I'm gonna start using those myself. Overall it felt calm, practical, and zero fear-porn, which is exactly why I dig your show. Great job on this one—definitely sharing it with a couple buddies who are just getting started. Keep it up!
