TEXTTOKEN 1216_01 was installed parallel to presentation of CTRL_S at the Intelligentsia Gallery as part of another groupshow HYPERTEXT (also in Beijing) in 2016.
Two important works were presented for the first time in an international context, thus forming the basis of a series that drew on Minimalism, conceptual art of the 1970s, netart of the 90s and Post-Internet art of the 2000s.
The latter shaped my reflections on how to deal with images in a digitized and mediatized world.
The TEXTTOKENs always function as statements and commentaries on selected aspects of the cybernetic society, but also always reflect on the handling of the image and representation of art in a metamodern situation by inviting people to photograph them, appropriate them, and post them on social networks.
In this way, TEXTTOKENs are always hybrid works that exist in a space oscillating between physical and virtual reality.
Only when a TEXTTOKEN is posted online the feedback loop is closed and the artwork is complete.
