While farm murders make up a small percentage of total murders in South Africa, the issue is not just about numbers but about the brutality and the impact on food security and rural communities. Farms are isolated, making farmers and workers vulnerable to violent attacks, often involving torture.
Dismissing concerns as a "right-wing notion" ignores the real fear and trauma experienced by farming communities. Whether or not the government is "permitting" these attacks is debatable, but its failure to effectively address rural crime has led to justified frustration.
