My PhD student @talzuss presented our work on cache_ext at @linuxplumbers, a new framework that allows applications to customize the OS page cache via eBPF. Imagine giving a database full control of page cache eviction/admission/prefetching policies. Hoping to get it upstreamed!
Had a great time presenting cache_ext at @linuxplumbers last week. Lots of productive conversations on next steps for getting it merged upstream. Exciting times ahead for BPF in Linux memory management!
Nice work! Congrats!!🎉
On top of your kernel-level eviction work, our CacheCatalyst (to appear at nsdi) can be applied at the application layer to eliminate browser cache re-validation RTTs. Together they'd optimize caching end-to-end. Happy to chat if you see potential synergy.
