The @ChiPubSchools/#LoriLockout had me wondering if my commitment to CPS is a fool's errand, but these comments from CPS students are an amazing reminder of why I continue to send my kids to CPS schools. These are the leaders of tomorrow.
"Stop treating the children of CPS as an afterthought and start valuing us as people. Weโre the ones who have to experience these conditions, not you, not your staff, and definitely not your own children.โ

Chicago Public Schools changed the way it reports COVID-19 cases at individual schools, but did not disclose it, leading parents to get an undercount of positive cases in the school their child attends. @SSKedreporterwbez.org/stories/cps-failed-โฆ
Can we file ANOTHER ULP against CPS for this?!?!
B/c we filed 2nd ULP when we began our remote action
(Btw IT WAS NOT ๐ชง a strike; she FORCED #LoriLockout & #PettyPedro
first ULP was in December โฆ FOR NOT SHARING COVID CASE DATA FROM THE SCHOOLS

Beginning the day @CTULocal1 announced a work action demanding @ChiPubSchools, @PedroCPSCEO, and @chicagosmayor temporarily switch to remote because of the increase of COVID in the community, data on COVID at the school level was suppressed and not shown on school dashboards. 10/
I havenโt even gotten to read this thread yet by @CPSCovid bc I came to Twitter to make my OWN ๐งต @CPSCovid to say
WHAT IS THIS CONTACT TRACING rn & HOW HAS IT GOTTEN WORSE SINCE #LoriLockout
As a CPS ES delegate I am continuing to attempt to keep my community โsafeโ โฆ
๐งตToday Iโll share the story of how @ChiPubSchools has been displaying different sets of COVID data to intentionally deceive parents & the public about COVID in schools. Iโll share evidence about how and (shockingly) WHEN they started fudging the numbers. Strap in. 1/
Welp. Sprout class is flipped. My class is flipped.
At least 40% of the school is doing hybrid.
Had a great hybrid teaching day, but this mayoral plan isn't a plan.
She needs to get out from under that "Mission Accomplished" banner and do her job.

My kids have a teacher who bought KN-95 masks for every student who needs one. Did what he could to support the kids during the #LoriLockout. Emailed parents about reaching out to alders. And he just emailed that he's tested positive. THREE FUCKING DAYS after the return to school
Before our winter break @ChiPubSchools sent out an email that basically said "we understand that the holidays are a tough time for some people, you should save your money so you won't be as sad" which is wild given most staff aren't paid for break

Feeling SO frustrated about the situation @SDPHite put us in this week. This is as bad as the #LoriLockout but we won't admit what it is: by refusing to provide a virtual option, thousands of kids were locked out school this week.
Despite an aggressive campaign by leadership to promote a "Yes" vote, at least 44% of Chicago educators don't think our children are safe in their in-person schools.
Also, nobody should ever say again that "This is the leadership pushing" radical stuff.
#LoriLockout
It would have been better to march back into class rooms on 1/18 heads held high, rather than sign onto a bad deal with CPS. CTU members should vote no to this terrible deal which doesnโt meet the basic demands that lead to the walkout in the first place. -3

That girl almost got a reaction out of me. If you have something negative to say about the LoriLockout and you are not a teacher you should keep in the drafts. There is so much going on from the mayors office to admin to teachers itโs definitely an uneducated opinion to have
