For people like me who have a full time employer and I work front facing with the public and I publish correct information and data on lgbt such as the health problems I am not allowed to talk about on X, anonymity is crucial. I am also gay with traditional Christian beliefs.

You do realise it's not about protecting children, don't you. This is about controlling the narrative. This is why Bluesky is exempt. Furthermore, if children are on social media, that's not the government's fault, it's the parents...

Does the government link every message you write to your ID?
No child benefits from being raped by a paki rape gang - but Starmer refuses to address that This SM ban is not about the kids

So why didn't parents actually do their job and restrict access in the first place?

No. It's about our God given, historic liberties which govts since 1997 have largely dismantled. Screeching govt mantras doesn't help one child. Again, the laws are already there, the govt doesn't enforce them. The few who do get caught get the Huw Edwards' treatment.

The existing law covers this. They just don't enforce it. The new proposal is designed to enhance the surveillance of all of us via 'protect our kids' slogans. You're just doing the govt's bidding with your 'Don't you want kids to be protected from p*rn' mantra.

My concerns are: 1. It shifts parental responsibility to the government. 2. Kids will find ways around it 3. It will require increased levels of monitoring of everyone. It's a laudable aim, but I have no confidence it'll be executed well

Then why the facial recognition business? You cannot honestly believe that they won't use these powers for nefarious means? Did C0vyd teach you nothing about state overreach? They will use anything to take more power-this govt has taken 2 yrs to 'wake up' to such a problem?

That's right, not you. I have a strong dislike for those slick American evangelists. They are Charlatans in many cases, Our own English traditions including great theologians like Augustine, Aquinas are considerably better and more authentic.

It's not often I agree with Ofcom. But stopping kids from accessing p*rn, violence and evil strangers online is a GOOD thing!

Following today's announcement on under 16s' access to social media, we are ready to work with Government to ensure the new measures are implemented quickly and are robust and effective. This builds on existing protections for children online. πŸ”— ofcom.org.uk/online-safety/p…

Well, if your in IT, you know full well how to protect your child from porn, and it does not require the government creating a new law. And you will know how this law will make it worse, unless you want our children been pushed into the dark web.

This is the sinister side of the 'protecting children' narrative. @lukeappleton
A key element that Keir Starmer and the Labour government have quietly added to the social media ban for under 16s: β–ͺ️Adults can still access social media through age checks like facial recognition, digital IDs, passports and credit cards. Basically, a digital ID check on all adults on social media. The government are using the virtue smokescreen of online safety for children as a guise for wider digital ID verification for adults. As always with Starmer…smoke and mirrors to mask the real agenda.

Kids can get knives on the streets or from the kitchen they don’t need to go to a shop or buy on line . Children stabbing Children is the problem ! Children feeling they need to carry knives is the problem ! Knife crime needs to be seriously addressed .

Online Safety Act; Data Protection Act; Obscene Publications Act; Age Appropriate Design Code. The fact that you don't know about them should tell you how little the authorities bother to use them.

Sorry was trying to actually add that in, I’m basically 100% for it but I’m like β€œehhhh” when it’s sweeping nations suddenly haha
