@BMW has revealed an AWD version of the M2, and yes, this is the first time M xDrive is coming to the compact M car.
-- The 3.0-litre straight-six still makes 353 kW (480 hp), but power now gets split between both axles through an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch.
-- It stays rear-biased in normal conditions and only pulls the front wheels in when needed. With the Active M Differential also in the mix, the 0 to 100 km/h time drops to 3.7 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than the RWD car. If you want the pure rear-drive experience, there's a 2WD mode with DSC off for that.
-- The engine also picks up BMW M Ignite, a pre-chamber combustion tech borrowed from racing that cuts fuel consumption under high loads. Practically, that means more laps on the same tank.
-- Top speed sits at 250 km/h, or 285 km/h with the M Driver's Package. There's also a new colour in the mix: BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue, available on the M2 for the first time.
-- Production starts in August 2026 in Mexico, with the market launch set for late summer 2026. USA, Germany, and China are the key markets to watch first.
