> Born in Pune, India in the 1950s
> He Graduated in Electrical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering in 1971
> And began his journey at Delhi-based semiconductor manufacturer Continental Devices
> He spent four years there, where his fascination with semiconductors truly began
At 25, he moved to United States with just $8 in his pocket
> Earned his MS in Solid-State Physics from University of Cincinnati
> Joined Intel in 1979
> Where he led the development of the world-famous Pentium processor
> And co-invented Intel’s first Flash Memory Technology (ETOX)
> Eventually he became Vice President of Intel’s Microprocessor Group
But his journey did not stop there.
> In 1995, he left Intel and joined startup NexGen
> The company was later acquired by AMD
> He played a key role in building AMD’s K6 processor- famously known as the Pentium killer
> Later led Silicon Spice, where he redirected the company to build first-generation VoIP chips
> He Successfully sold the company to Broadcom
In 2002 he launched NewPath Ventures to back breakthrough innovation
> invested in chip and system design companies like Telsima, Montalvo Systems, Silica, and Nevis
> Co-founded Indo-US Venture Partners
> supporting India-focused startups and emerging technology ventures
Today, he is internationally recognized as one of the pioneers of the semiconductor revolution and a defining force behind personal computing.
For his contributions, he has received many prestigious honors including Padma Bhushan and Lifetime Accomplishment Award in Silicon Valley
