So what exactly are they doing with all these fingerprints? Framing us for crimes later? 😒 Seriously though. I was going to stay above the fray on this one, but the outpouring of completely false and misunderstood information has made it impossible to stay silent. And let me be very clear: This is not me standing in staunch defense of President Trump or any administration. This is me standing in truth. And standing in truth is very rarely popular. Nurses everywhere are raging over headlines claiming the Trump administration “removed nursing as a professional degree.” But here’s the part that’s getting lost in all the noise: 👉 Perceptions can vary widely… but perceptions are not reality. And facts matter. No, nursing wasn’t downgraded. No, professional status wasn’t removed. No, your RN, BSN, or LPN is not affected. This is simply a cap on federal student loan borrowing for advanced practice degrees — and nothing more. Nurses can still pursue these degrees, still borrow privately, still find affordable pathways. Nothing is being “taken away.” What’s fascinating is how quickly the profession mobilizes when wallets feel threatened — yet when patients were being harmed, when informed consent disappeared, when nurses were being fired and silenced… the outrage was nowhere to be found. And since we’re talking about marching… let’s talk about 2022. I refused to participate in the Million Nurse March because they REFUSED to allow us to speak about the harms being done to patients. They REFUSED to acknowledge the violations of bodily autonomy. They REFUSED to discuss the lack of informed consent. They REFUSED to address the travesty of firing nurses for making a personal medical decision. But now? A cap on federal loan borrowing hits, and suddenly the profession finds its voice again.
