Here are some activities that can boost the levels of neurotransmitters.
Biohacking can help you optimize your body, mind, and life. It's about taking iron grip control of your own biology.
These activities are all ways to naturally manipulate the levels of certain neurotransmitters in your brain to enhance your mood and overall well-being.
The following four chemicals - dopamine, oxytocin, endorphins, and serotonin - are commonly referred to as the "happy hormones" or "feel-good neurotransmitters." I’m going to call them Bliss Builders.
Dopamine: Strongly associated with reward and pleasure experiences. It is released during activities like eating or achieving a goal, and Completing projects.
(Here’s a helpful hack: Set achievable goals to test this out for yourself.)
Oxytocin: Referred to as the "love hormone," is released during social interactions and physical touch.
(Helpful hack: Get in some social activity! Feel that oxytocin surge. Additionally, try giving yourself a foot massage and not feel happy.)
Yes it’s okay to show yourself love.
Endorphins: Acts as natural painkillers and they are released during activities like exercise, laughter, or when we’re listening to music or watching a movie that we enjoy.
(Helpful hack: Try exercising or stretching in front of a mirror while rapidly repeating to yourself “I am God-man the Great!” At least 3-5 times. You’ll be laughing with yourself and having fun in no time.)
Finally, we have serotonin. Serotonin helps us regulate mood, appetite, and sleep. Its levels can be boosted by exposure to sunlight, being in nature, practicing mindfulness, and meditation.
(Helpful hack: Get yourself in some natural sunlight. While you’re enjoying the sunshine responsibly focus on steadying and regulating your breath by becoming aware of each breath.
Try placing one hand on your belly, take a deep breath in through the nose for a count of four, exhaling for the count of 6.
Feel your belly rise and fall.
Repeat for 1 min. That is a very relaxing exercise that is also capable of combating tension or stress.
