Why is #Salesforce limiting the number of #PlatformEvents definitions per org so much? Will this change like 10 years ago with custom objects? I want my app to have fine granular events but hesitate to add them.

What's a good starting point for minimal PoC on how to integrate #Salesforce with a backend using #PlatformEvents. The simpler the better e.g @nodejs on localhost. Needed: Long-running backend process resumes logic in SF. Flow, promises, continuations?!
