***CHIM CÁNH CỤT*** - Chim cánh cụt hay còn gọi là chim cụt cánh là một nhóm chim nước không bay được. Chúng hầu như chỉ sống ở Nam bán cầu, với duy nhất một loài, chim cánh cụt Galápagos, được tìm thấy ở phía bắc đường xích đạo. - Mặc dù hầu hết tất cả các loài chim cánh cụt đều có nguồn gốc từ Nam bán cầu, chúng không chỉ được tìm thấy ở những vùng khí hậu lạnh, chẳng hạn như Nam Cực. - Hóa thạch chim cánh cụt cổ nhất được biết là của chi Waimanu, chúng đã sống trong giai đoạn đầu của thế Paleocen tại khu vực New Zealand, khoảng 62 triệu năm trước. - Tổ tiên của chim cánh cụt trước Waimanu hiện vẫn không rõ, mặc dù một số nhà khoa học (Mayr, 2005) cho rằng họ Plotopteridae tương tự như chim cánh cụt. #Bird

@eva_mercade Copepteryx fueron aves buceadoras, al igual que Waimanu,que anidaban en tierra, y cuya dieta era carnívora. El género fue nombrado por Olson y Hasegawa en 1996 y asignado a la familia Plotopteridae. La especie tipo es Copepteryx hexeris.

特別展でなく常設展の話だけど、恥ずかしながらヘスパロルニス知らなかった。か、忘れていた。 あと Plotopteridae は完全に知らなかった。en.wpには海棲哺乳類の勢力拡大で絶滅したのかもとあるが…
