I don’t know if Chloe Zhao actually cultivated poorface, but people going “why target a POC woman?” Terrence Malick was a rich oil kid and he used that to sneak making arthouse films on a studio level. Is innovation only for white men?

Is someone really going to skip a movie because Nicole Kidman has bad knees and therefore needs a rig to kneel on camera?
On the broader poorface point - I need to figure it out more, but it has long seemed to me that people in these types of industries need to cultivate the new.
