Day 3 Of The Big 6:
#Google
One of the reasons I'm doing this series is because I'm excited about technological advances in
#accessibility.
Maybe I'm having an emotional day, but one of the videos Google created for
#ProjectRelate gave me some feelings 🥲 It's attached below
ALT The company with the most extensive portfolio of internet-connected things, Google’s reach is unquestionable. From the famous search engine to smartphones, laptops, browsers, apps, email, and more, Google is described as ‘the internet’ by many:
Project Relate is an app that allows those with non-standard speech to communicate by learning a person’s unique speech patterns and then can transcribe their speech into audio or text.
Education Tools have made updates to Gmail by allowing alt text to be added to attachments and images. Also, comments and highlights have braille support so students reading a Google Doc will hear start & end indications when these features are used.
Finally, the TalkBack screen reader has had updates to allow those who are blind or have low vision to read, write, send emails, share on social media, or operate their other apps. It read the screen aloud when there are no audio options.
