Everyone is talking about AI. Nobody is talking about the hardware that will run AI 5 years from now. This prototype suggests manufacturers are already testing things we're not supposed to see yet. If this becomes real, today's flagship phones could look outdated very quickly. Would you buy a phone with a completely invisible front camera? Yes or No? 👇

The result is out for South Africa. This is a prototype for what is to come. The white settlers who are engineering South Africans against their African neighbors must are smiling now! The way the whole continent turned against South Africa in their game against Mexico on Thursday was exactly what those behind the xenophobia against black migrants were hoping for. It’s never too late to receive sense.

The Isle of Man is getting its first ever Startup Weekend. I'm the lead organiser. A group of us have been putting this together voluntarily for months. We just think the island deserves this. Here's how it works. Friday evening, anyone can pitch an idea. 60 seconds. That's all you get. Then everyone votes, and the most voted ideas move forward. If your idea gets picked, you've got one job, convince people to join your team. Walk the room, sell your vision, and get three to five people who believe in it. That's your team for the weekend. Then the real work starts. Saturday and Sunday, you're building. But not just in the room. You go outside, talk to real people, and test whether anyone actually wants what you're building. Product market fit isn't something you guess at, you go find out. Sunday evening, every team presents their prototype to judges. 54 hours after it all started. I've been involved in these since 2016. Spent years mentoring and judging after that. I've seen what happens when you get the right people in a room for a weekend. It's worth it. Every time. We're targeting 50 participants, 10 teams, 5 people each, working on 10 ideas and presenting 10 prototypes by Sunday evening. That's the room we want to build. We're charging £15, not as a ticket price, but as a commitment to actually show up. That covers all three days, including meals. The event is on 10–12 July at Launchpad, Hillary House, Douglas. If you're interested, register at form.typeform.com/to/GXbWIOI… And if this isn't for you, but you know someone it might be, send it their way. This is Dr. Shubha Venkatesha Iyengar. She helped build DRISHTI - India's first indigenous runway visibility measuring system. And DRISHTI is a big reason why planes are able to land safely even if the pilots can barely see the runway. See, during heavy fog, rain, dust or smog - visibility is extremely low. And that is terrifying. Because during landings, every second and every metre of visibility matters. This is where DRISHTI comes in. It is a device that measures something called Runway Visual Range (RVR). And it does this by sending a light beam between two DRISHTI units placed about 30 metres apart along the runway and measuring how much of that light gets through the fog, rain, or dust. Clear air -> more light reaches the sensors -> higher visibility. Dense fog -> less light reaches the sensors -> lower visibility. DRISHTI gives the ATCs and pilots these accurate readings - which basically tells them if its safe to land or not. And this isn't just a prototype. In fact, more than 100 DRISHTI systems have been installed across airports in India. Also, its not like we didn't have these runway visibility measuring systems before. We did. But these were mostly imported systems and were also expensive. DRISHTI was developed indigenously in India at the CSIR-NAL - under the leadership of Dr. Shubha Venkatesha Iyengar. This system is more accurate and only costs 1/3rd of imported systems. So the next time you are in Delhi during winters landing safely on the airport - you'll know who to thank for it.
