Leaders at the Nelson Mandela Bay District Education Forum reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Early Childhood Development through collaboration and integrated service delivery.
Mr Monga Peter emphasized the importance of aligning education with public health, environmental health and community development to advance the Education Welfare Management Act, noting that holistic support is essential for improving outcomes for young children.
Ms Ivy Rapoo reflected on the transition of the ECD function from Social Development to Basic Education, acknowledging the challenges faced and the progress achieved. She highlighted the development of the 2030 Strategy, informed by sector insights, and outlined the purpose of the Bana Pele Registration Campaign in strengthening compliance, improving standards and ensuring centres are formally recognised and supported through ongoing national outreach and guidance.
Provincial ECD Director Ms Nozipho Chiliza shared the evolution of the registration process in the Eastern Cape, from a paper based system to an accessible online platform with phased compliance. She encouraged all non compliant centres to register and make use of the support available to become part of a regulated, quality assured system.
Together, these efforts reflect a united commitment to building a safer, more inclusive and quality driven ECD sector.
